Hilo Trollers recently honored captain Reid Takayama and crew of the Hele Mai for capturing the Fisherman of the Year award for the highest combined weight of the largest of each of the four flag fish landed in 2011.

Takayama holds the trophy at center, with from left, Dayton Sumiki, Debbie Takayama, Van Uemura and Les Isemoto.

It’s club tradition for the Fisherman of the Year to serve as club president the following year if possible.

The Trollers’ next meeting is 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wailoa Pavilion 1. A potluck will be held, proposed monthly tournament dates will be confirmed and it is anticipated that a new board will also be confirmed. Membership forms will be available and 2011 registered members will be allowed to vote. The tournament season begins in April and runs through Labor Day.

For more information, call outgoing President Les Isemoto (960-1990) or Craig Severance at (640-1670).
